LWCircus Scientific Coordinator – It

Architect and cartographer, She has a PhD in Landscape Architecture gained at the Alghero School of Architecture, University of Sassari (2011). She obtained her first degree in Architecture at the Florence School of Architecture (1999), with a thesis in Landscape Architecture. Since 2004 She started in coordinating several international operative workshops, experimenting shared practices in urban interventions trough the art medium as a vehicle for the redevelopment of common spaces, with the collaboration of local artists, communities and cultural foundations. She worked for Museo Nivola, in Orani Sardinia (2004) and with Maria Lai and her Foundation at the Fondazione Stazione dell’arte, in Ulassai, Sardinia (2006). During last 15 years She collaborated with different Universities, Foundations and Cultural Institutions, such as the Cornell University in Rome (2009), the Master in Landscape Architecture of Barcelona at ETSAB_UPC (2010), the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation (2011), the RMIT University, School of Architecture and Design, Melbourne, serving as examiner and adjudicator at the Practice Research Symposium (2013 – 2020), the ENSP, Ecole nationale supérieure du Paysage, Versailles (2013-14-15-16), the Universidad Marista, Merida (2016 and 2021), the Chinese Universities of SCUA, SCUT, GAFA in Guangzhou and PKU, Beijing (2017), the UHM, University of Hawaii at Manoa (2017), Tonji and Jiao Tong University in Shanghai (2018-2019), TURENSCAPE Academy (from 2018), USEK and LU Universities in Lebanon (from 2019), GSA METRO in Johannesburg (from 2020), ESALA, Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (2020-2022). From 2009 till 2015, She coordinated several workshops for the II Level Master in Mediterranean Landscape Urbanism at the Alghero School of Architecture, University of Sassari, where She worked as Academic Coordinator for the second edition of the Master MMLU (2014-2015). She was Co-Founder and scientific coordinator for the first six editions (2011-2016) of LandWorks-Sardinia program. She is Co-Founder, President and Scientific Coordinator of LWCircus non profit Organization (www.lwcircus.org), which promotes the Italian – Mexican Operative Shared Program born during 2016 and focused on experimental modalities in searching new strategies for sustainable urban and rural development, together with the revitalization of cultural landscapes trough social inclusion, thanks to design methods based on shared practices, choral attitudes and osmotic processes within resilient communities on particular sensitive areas in the Mediterranean and Developing Countries. She has been juror at the WLA (World Landscape Architecture) Award 2019 and She has been nominated for the American Academy in Rome Italian Fellowships 2019-2020. She served as juror for the AILA NSW Award in 2021 and for CITY ‘SCAPE CITY_BRAND &TOURISM LANDSCAPE AWARD, promoted by CNAPP and PAYSAGE, sponsored by “Triennale di Milano”. Annacaterina has been the curator of Resilience, Art and Landscape section, at the Italian Pavilion, for 17th Architecture Venice Biennial ( 2021). She curated the expo “Resilient Landscapes for Resilient Communities TO BE CONTINUED” at Museo Marino Marini in Florence (Dec. 2021/Jan. 2022), subsequently exposed at the MAD_Murate Art District, center for contemporary art production in Florence ( where she curated the series of events and public talks LUMEM-RIVA DIALOGUES, March-May 2022) and now permanently exposed in Asinara Island National Park (Sardinia). She is recipient of special mention with LWCircus – Onlus at European Landscape award “Premio del paesaggio d’Europa” ( March 2023). She exposed at the 18th Architecture Venice Biennial in collaboration with Hood Design Studio at Carlo Scarpa Garden, Central Pavilion, Giardini, La Biennale di Venezia ( May – November 2023). She exposed at Mies van der Rohe Pavilion among the 12th International Landscape Biennial, Barcelona ( 27 November – 7 December 2023). She has been the scientific curator of BRAL024, Biennial of Resilience, Art and Landscape in Asinara National Park, including the AsinaraLab024 operative workshop and the 4th edition of International Symposium LWConvivium ( 26th September – 6th October 2024). She is curator of IMForest025 urban reforestation international project from Florence to Bergamo, Barcelona, till Valencia and curator of next BRAL025 in Asinara ( 18th – 28 September).
