Coquelicot Mafille, (Paris, France, 1975) is a French Italian Danish visual artist who lives and works between Milan and Alghero, Italy. In her work, the dimensions of play, dreams, spaces occupied by language and travel intertwine to highlight the poetic elements of the multicultural identity of the world and the Earth. Her compositional visions renders a sense of shared intimacy of social and natural episodes using the layering of places, times and gestures. In her practice, the investigation of past and contemporary pictorial and photographic images from which she draws inspiration is translated into embroidery and painting. She works on supports such as canvas, textiles, paper, wood, large walls and stained glass windows with thread, painting, tape. Solo travel and her studies in political science and anthropology have been a source of teaching and inspiration that still fuels her research. She has exhibited in Italy, France, Morocco and Turkey and has participated in several artist residencies. She works with public and private contractors in municipalities and regions and leads artist workshops in schools and museums.
