Laboratorio Silenzio – Company of deaf actors and performers

Laboratorio Silenzio is also an association of social promotion, founded in Milan in 2016, it includes both hearing and deaf people. It’s a container of inclusive artistic projects. Laboratorio Silenzio creates laboratories and performances in landscape, with particular interest for relational art, non verbal communication, silence, walking as a practice for crossing landscape, body, gestures and their possible contamination with urban and natural spaces. The inspiration for this project comes from the concept expressed by John Cage in his art work called 4’33’’: the absolute silence does not exist because it’s filled up with something else. In our case, silence is filled by bodies that inhabit it. Laboratorio Silenzio has been created by Serena Crocco, performer and theatre director and since 2017 the Company collaborated with landscape architect Elisabetta Bianchessi (T12 Lab and Verdi Acque) on projects that aim to re-inhabit places through the design of landscape and public spaces, relational design and theatrical performance. The theatre company made by deaf and hearing people realizes inclusive projects of landscape re-inhabitation and urban regeneration through performative practices, public and participatory art. Since 2017 Laboratorio Silenzio directed by Serena Crocco in collaboration with Elisabetta Bianchessi starts in being part of LWCircus’ activities, as ArnoLab019 and AsinaraLab019. Laboratorio Silenzio performed among the section of Resilience, Art and Landscape curated by LWCircus at Italian Pavilion inside the 17th Architecture Venice Biennial during the International Symposium Resilient Landscape for Resilient Community (2021). Laboratorio Silenzio performed also among the series of talks and open lectures  “Lumen – Progetto RIVA | Dialogues” curated by LWCircus for MAD, Murate Art District, with the performance You will find me if you want me in the Garden (2022).
